Vendor Bio
Fibernacci Press owner Susanne Baker creates handmade paper products including books, watercolor marbling, and decorations to sell at the Market. She has naturally gravitated toward art throughout her whole life. After first working as both a weaver and a waitress, Susanne decided to go back to school to become a librarian. Art classes on the side gave her the opportunity to meet mentors who realized her passion for being creative. They encouraged her to get a master’s degree in Fine Arts, which led her to begin making crafts as a “side hustle” in addition to working as both a librarian and a teacher.
Along with her pre-made products, Susanne also accepts commissions from customers. The commissions give patrons a chance to describe exactly what they’re looking for and become part of the creative process. To make her products, Susanne primarily uses traditional techniques she learned during graduate school, then puts a unique twist on them to make the crafts her own. Additionally, she constantly works with non-traditional materials because they are both cost-efficient and more in line with her artistic style. For Susanne, the Market is special because it’s such a fun and positive place for customers to gather. Fellow vendors also go above and beyond to offer her their support and encouragement each Saturday morning.
