The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will be hosting Gritty Blues out on the lawn, Saturday April 8, 2017 beginning at 8 am. This tasty event will honor two southern staples, grits with a side of blues!
Chef Jay Pierce of the Traveled Farmer will bring his best grits game, using Guilford Mill grits and his flair for farm-fresh inspired cuisine. Patrons will get to choose a variety of tasty toppings from food grown and produced by local vendors including Neese Country Sausage brand, celebrating their 100 year anniversary. Additional toppings available include Quaker Acre Apiaries honey for the sweet tooth, savory seasonal sauteed greens from Crouse Farm and tomatoes from Mindenhill Farms, cheese and butter.
The market invites you to join the chef for a special book signing session at 10:00am. His cookbook Shrimp, a Savor the South cookbook from UNC Press, will be available for purchase during the event.
The cost of the Gritty Blues breakfast is $5 per bowl for sausage and vegetables toppings or a chef’s special shrimp and bacon gravy for $10 a bowl while supplies last. This exclusive menu is prepared and made fresh just for market patrons. Any proceeds benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.
Enjoy the sounds of local musicians with Upbeat Chicago blues from Johnny-O and the Jump Out Boys weather permitting, we’ll be outside! Bring a blanket or lawn chair and spend the morning at the market!
