The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will host a BLT Challenge & Tomato Tasting on Saturday August 8th from 8 am – 11:30 am on the lawn at the corner of Lindsay & Yanceyville St.
Local restaurants and food enthusiast will create their best bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich using vine ripened tomatoes and lettuce grown by farmers at the market. Customers will sample all sandwiches and vote for their favorite BLT. This year’s competitors are Burger Warfare, Emma Keys, LaRue, Melt, The Undercurrent, and the Greensboro Farmers Market team. The winner will be announced at the end of market.
The cost is $5 per plate with proceeds benefiting the Greensboro Farmers Curb market while supplies last.
Patrons can also sample a variety of tomatoes that will be in season. Pink Girls, Sun Gold, Cherokee Purple, Husky Cherry, Goliath, Better Boy, Yellow, Juliet, Yellow Pear, Black Cherry, Mountain Fresh, Heinz, German Johnson, Big Beef, and Plum tomatoes are just a few of the popular varieties that are grown by local vendors.

Enjoy live music by Seeds of Saint beginning at 8 am, Collin Cutler and Holly Riley at 9:30 am. There will be kid friendly activities out on the lawn as well. Picnic table seating is provided and patrons are encouraged to bring seating as well.
