The 3rd Annual BLT Challenge & Tomato Tasting Day

The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will host a BLT Challenge & Tomato Tasting on Saturday August 6th from 8 am – 11:30 am on the lawn at the corner of Lindsay & Yanceyville St.

Local restaurants signed up this year are Tessa Farm to Fork and The Green Bean, and Blue Spoon Market, Cafe and Cooking School. We will have more details on the other teams soon.

Customers will sample all sandwiches and vote for their favorite BLT. The winner will be announced at the end of market.

Burger Warfare was our winner in 2015.

The cost is $5 per plate with proceeds benefiting the Greensboro Farmers Curb market while supplies last.­

Patrons can also sample a variety of tomatoes that will be in season. Pink Girls, Sun Gold, Cherokee Purple, Husky Cherry, Goliath, Better Boy, Yellow, Juliet, Yellow Pear, Black Cherry, Mountain Fresh, Heinz, German Johnson, Big Beef, and Plum tomatoes are just a few of the popular varieties that are grown by local vendors.

Enjoy live music by Louis Allen at 7:45 am followed by Laura Jane Vincent, Laura Jane Vincent’s whole music situation, at 9:45 am. There will be kid friendly activities out on the lawn as well. Picnic table seating is provided ­­and patrons are encouraged to bring fold up chairs or picnic blankets as well.
