The public is invited to the Blueberry Pancake and Celebration Day on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 8:00 am until 11:30 am at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market (501 Yanceyville Street) while supplies last.
Guest Chef Alex Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex will prepare his famously light and fluffy pancakes made with fresh, ripe blueberries from Rivers Finest in Reidsville and local ingredients.
The pancake plates are $5 per plate. A la carte options include a Neese’s sausage patty for $2. Orange Juice will be available for purchase as well as Gate City Coffee with hot and iced coffee choices. Event proceeds will benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, a non-profit organization. Plates will available while supplies last. The event will be held outside, on the Market lawn, weather pending.
Patrons can enjoy live music on the lawn during the event. Guitarist and Singer/Song Writer Jeff Wall will play live music will be from 9 am to noon. Patrons are encouraged to bring their family to enjoy fun for all ages including hula hoops and corn hole.
Local blueberries for purchase will be available from Turtle Line Farm, Hillcrest Farm, Rural Hall Farm, Smith Century Farm and Farlow Farm, and Rivers Finest. Specialty blueberry items will also be available across the market, including baked goods, jams, jellies and sauces.
Blueberries are a celebrated seasonal super food in North Carolina, available at Market usually from late June through July depending on the weather. One of the most nutrient dense of berries, they are low in calories and high in antioxidants which boast a list of health benefits. North Carolina is ranked as the 7th largest producer state for blueberries in the US.
