Community Stone Soup Gathering
Saturday, November 13, 9-11am
Join us in the market cafe and drop in for storytelling, readings and seasonal soup sampling. Stone soup is the kick-off event for our year-end annual giving fund campaign. At 9:00 and 10:00 am, Steve Tate (Goat Lady Dairy) will delight us with an interpretative version of “ Stone Soup” the folk story in which strangers share a food so all in the community can partake and enjoy. At 9:30 and 10:30 Chris Musselwhite will share excerpts from his book about growing up in rural NC, “Barker Ten Mile, Stories from the Edge”.
We invite you to be part of our village to support this season of caring and sharing. Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the continued operation of five food security programs at the market that serve neighbors in need. We are thankful for your generosity, any donation is welcome, tax donation receipts are available. Proceeds go to operate these programs at the Market.
Bring the kids (of all ages) to the interactive storytelling sessions. Enjoy these 15-20 minute sessions before or after shopping market. Soup tasting provided in partnership with Recipes for Success. Patrons are welcome to purchase coffee, tea and breakfast items from market vendors to enjoy in the cafe during this Fundraiser kick off.
Proceeds directly support these programs: https://www.gsofarmersmarket.
In addition to supporting neighbors in need of food security, the programs bring a diverse shopping base to the Market and provides additional income to farmers and food vendors.
