Did you know? We accept SNAP/EBT! The Market participates in several nutritional assistance programs including the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides electronic food stamps for community members who qualify. As part of the Market’s mission to provide Greater Greensboro with opportunities to purchase and learn about local foods, we have implemented a Double SNAP Token Program during Wednesday, Mid-Week Market (starting on 12/22 Double SNAP will be available on Saturdays). The Double SNAP program is secured by GFM, Inc. through local foundation support from the Mary Lynn Richardson Foundation, individual donations from community members, and through GFM Honor Card sales.
What Does it Double SNAP mean? GFM Inc. matches up to $15 on SNAP/EBT withdrawals, meaning that a SNAP customer using the match program would withdraw $15 from a SNAP account and receive $30 to spend at the Market.
Why Is It Important? Fresh Food Access & Food Security are very important to GFM board and staff and not only diversifies the clientele but also contributes additional income to local farmers and producers. Currently GFM provides nourishing fresh food to families every week through food security program and helping customers purchase affordable fresh fruits, vegetables and local meats, eggs and dairy from local farmers and producers.
Support Double SNAP! You can support food security efforts at the Market in several ways:
~ Purchasing a Greensboro Farmers Curb Market Honor Card, Donating to GFM, or participate in monthly fundraising events.
