The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market (GFM) will host a “Got to Be NC to Kick off to Summer” sampling of seasonal foods and activities. This is a day of celebration with support from the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and “Got to be NC.”

The event will take place on the lawn at the corner of Lindsay & Yanceyville St (501 Yanceyville Street). Greensboro chef, Chris Scalici of Artistic Cuisine, will be serving samples of NC pork barbecue sliders, locally sourced slaw and veggies from 10 am – 12 noon or while supplies last.

The public is invited to start their Memorial Day weekend and learn more about how to support local agriculture and sustainable food systems through the Market Champion Campaign. Join the Market as it launches its annual campaign to preserve the heritage of Greensboro’s original farmers market. GFM board and staff members will share information on how you can support your Market and build social connections that bring together farmers, food, and friends.

In addition to the free sampling, the Market will kick off a “Storytelling Trees at Ten” with Storyteller Steve Tate (and some baby goats that patrons can bottle feed from Goat Lady Dairy) as he shares funny, surprising and heart warming tales from farms and farmers starting at 10 am. Festivities will start on the lawn at 8 am with live music by John Stevens and children’s activities available throughout the day. Picnic table seating is provided, and patrons are encouraged to bring picnic blankets.
