Greensboro, NC – The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market (501 Yanceyville Street) will celebrate Guilford Local Foods Week with in partnership with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Guilford County Center and community collaborators. This event brings together local food advocates, farmers, local chefs, agricultural professionals, and local food supporters to create a week of celebration, education, food, and fun. Featuring a variety of FREE events the community is invited to participate and to learn more about Guilford County farmers and producers.  

The Public is invited two celebratory events this week, Thank a Farmer / Homeschool Day and Pumpkin Celebration Day, as a part of Guilford Local Foods Week:

Thank a Farmer / Homeschool Day on Wednesday, October 9th (8 am – 12 pm):
– Meet your farmers at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market and join us for a fun-filled day to learn more about local foods and farmers.
– Participate in “Food Discovery” with a Greensboro Public Library librarian at 10 am and 11 am; children of all ages are welcome!
– Enjoy games and activities on the Market Lawn, a self-guided “veggie” scavenger hunt, a planting demonstration, and shopping, direct from your farmers!
– With any fresh food purchase get a FREE Market Bag ($5 value) or half-off Market Thermal or Cloth Totes; show off your purchase at the Customer Information Hub in the Market to redeem your bag discount. Offer only valid October 9th from 8am-12pm.

UPDATE: Due to unforeseen complications Commissioner Troxler will not be at Mid-Week Market (Wednesdays 8 am – 12 pm) to celebrate Guilford Local Foods Week with us.

Pumpkin Pancake & Celebration Day on Saturday, October 12th:
– Support your farmers and celebrate the fall harvest by shopping for local produce and products, seasonal pies, and autumn potted plants – 7am -12pm.
– Pumpkin Pancakes Fundraiser starts at 8 am; while supplies last! Guest Chefs Alex and Tim Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex will prepare their famous light and fluffy pancakes made with their special recipe of pumpkin, fall spices, and pecans!  Pancake plates at this breakfast fundraiser are a minimum donation of $5 per person.
– Enjoy live music and community seating on the lawn or bring picnic blankets to sit under the shade trees.

The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville Street, is located at the corner of Lindsey Street and Yanceyville Street across from the War Memorial Stadium and operates year round on Saturdays 7 am to 12 pm and seasonally on Wednesday 8 am- 12 pm (April 17- October 30). The Market is an indoor facility with free admission, WiFi, and plenty of free parking as well as an ATM on site.
