FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 7, 2022

Greensboro Farmers Curb Market will host the Gritty Blues Breakfast Bar Fundraiser in partnership with The Historic Magnolia House and Piedmont Blues Preservation Society on Saturday April 30, 2022 from 9 am to 12 noon at the Market.

The event, revived after COVID halted most in-person events at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market for two years, celebrates the humble staple food of the South, grits, served alongside blues and other live music at the Saturday market. The Historic Magnolia House culinary team will prepare a gorgeous spread of grits from Old Mill at Guilford. The event will feature Old Mill’s white grits prepared with a choice of toppings: crumbled Neese’s Sausage, Neese’s Bacon bits, NC coastal shrimp,The Historic  Magnolia House’s signature fried fish ($10), or grits with vegetables (fried okra, peppers, mushrooms) ($9).

Advance tickets are encouraged to reserve a meal and can be purchased at TicketMeTriad.Com or at the Market Info Hub to guarantee one’s breakfast and pick-up time. A limited number of grits bowls without pre-purchase will be available on the day of the event, first come first served while supplies last. The event will be held rain or shine, on the lawn on Lindsay or in the Market café kitchen in inclement weather.

Patrons will enjoy live music from Taylor Aaron Parker Williams, a multi-instrumentalist from Greensboro NC. Williams has played in various groups including jam bands, R&B, and punk. He’s stepping out to share his singer-songwriter soulful melodies with the world. Participate in an introductory conversation about southern and African food cultures with Piedmont Blues Preservation Society president Atiba Berkley at 9:00 am followed by blues and multi-genre music by this up-and-coming artist.  The music stage is sponsored by the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society.

Come enjoy some down-home southern-style grits and groove to the blues and more music at the Market. All market patrons are invited to enjoy the music and free activities on the lawn (hula hoops, corn hole).

Participation in monthly breakfast fundraisers is an investment in the local economy and cultural community. Greensboro Farmers Market, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation and all proceeds from the Gritty Blues Bar will benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market to directly support the operation of five food security programs that provide nourishing, fresh foods to area residents in need.
