The public is invited to attend the Great American Cookout at the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.  Sir Charles, of Sir Charles Gourmet Barbeque Sauce, will be grilling up local meats and seasonal produce to celebrate the official start of the summer season. Steve Terrill of Red Chair Dinners will prepare savory seasonal sides to complete the meal.

The cost of the Great American Cookout fundraiser is $5.00 per plate and is first come, first serve. The brunch will be served from 9:00 am until noon, while supplies last. Patrons can choose from one of the following meat choices: slider hamburgers from grass fed Meadows Family Farm beef, chicken legs from Weatherhand Farm and Sixx Gunn Farm, or seasoned grilled vegetables. Sides will include French herb potato, vinaigrette slaw, and summer squash salad. Beverages will be available for purchase as well. Proceeds will benefit the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market, a 501 C3 non-profit that relies on the monthly fundraisers to supplement basic operating expenses.

The Great American Cookout will be served on the Market, with live music and activities for the children, Local blues band Johnny 0 and the Jump Out Boys, a high energy swing blues band, will perform from 8:30 am – 9:45 am. Riley Walker, blues singer songwriter, will perform from 10 am – noon.

The Great American Cookout showcases the wide variety of humane pasture-raised local meats available fresh and frozen from eight vendors in the market year round: beef, chicken, pork,  lamb, goat as well as NC fresh seafood.  Recipes and resource guides will be available for patrons to learn more about meats available at the market.
