Greensboro N&R- The Mobile Oasis Farmers Market hits the streets again on May 18.
The mobile market offers a variety of local produce to residents in designated food deserts in Greensboro. This year, the Greensboro Farmers’ Curb Market has partnered with the mobile unit.
“This year’s Mobile Oasis expansion is consistent with our organization’s mission to provide Greater Greensboro with opportunities to purchase and learn about local, fresh and healthy food, and how it supports better health in our community,” said Lee Mortensen, director of the Curb Market.
The Mobile Oasis Farmers Market will make weekly stops on Wednesday and Thursday through Oct. 13. It will not operate on holidays. On Wednesday, the market will be at the Social Services Building, 1203 Maple St., from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and then will move to the Warnersville Recreation Center, 601 Doak St., from 4 to 6 p.m. On Thursday, the market will be at the Public Health Clinics, 1100 E. Wendover Ave., from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and then move to the Greensboro Farmers’ Curb Market, 501 Yanceyville St., from 4 to 6 p.m. Customers who use their SNAP benefits to purchase items will get a Double Bucks voucher for the same amount to make an additional purchase at not cost. The market accepts EBT, cash, debit and credit cards.
The project is a collaboration of the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, the NC Cooperative Extension Service, the City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, East Market Street Development Corporation, and the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market.
