Food Security Program/Market Hub Assistant Responsibilities:
GFM now Hiring for a 4-month position could lead to longer placement in customer service at Greensboro’s original and all-local farmers market located in East Greensboro.
∙ Attend all Saturday markets, the Food Security Program Hub Coordinator is responsible to coordinate activities of the Food Security / Information Desk during Markets.
∙ GFM Food Security Programs Oversee (SNAP, Double SNAP, Orange Card Token Program, Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Vouchers (WIC & Seniors) & Farmer FoodShare); the Food Security/ Market Hub Ambassador is responsible to conduct a day of market site token distribution (Saturdays), reconcile tokens, provide batch reports and tallies to management for reporting to the accountant, assist management track checks, distribute checks (in person, by mail after two weeks), advise management need for supplies for programs (tokens, bags, etc.), assist with program compliance ie organize paperwork forms for vendors to complete annually, post and distribute signage.
Info hub Duties: Answer customer questions in a timely manner, process merchandise and ticket sales to fundraiser events via cash, credit card processing, other.
Must be able to operate Square, IPAD, SNAP/EBT processing equipment, count change.
This is a 18 week commitment from May to end of August 2021 with the opportunity to expand. Starting pay is $12:50 an hour funded through August 28th with funding being sought for the remainder of 2021. The Saturday shift is 7:30 to 12:30.
Candidate Desired Skills & Experience Required
∙ Have 1+ years of experience working in the local food system and be able to demonstrate a passion for local food, farming, and a basic understanding of local food economies, as well as a passion for food outreach, health, and nutrition. Candidates must be knowledgeable in key issues (Food Security, Food Justice, Local Food Advocacy, Fresh Food Access, etc).
∙ Be experienced/ demonstrate attention to detail record-keeping, filing, etc
∙ Have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment, both independently and as part of a team.
∙ Be experienced in customer service (problem-solving and conflict resolution) as well as have excellent communication skills, a positive and energetic attitude, and the ability to form positive professional relationships with a wide range of people including vendors, customers, and partner agencies.
∙ Have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with teams of individuals and colleagues.
∙ Have strong verbal communications skills.
∙ Be confident working with diverse backgrounds (conversational level of Spanish language is a plus), etc.
∙ Be detail-oriented, dependable, and punctual.
Spanish language proficiency ideal, not required.

∙ The ability to stand at the Market Food Security Hub for 5+ hours with minimal opportunities to sit down
Valid NC drivers license and reliable transportation
