Vendor Bio
Quaker Acres Apiary owner Bill Mullins offers honey and a variety of honey-based products at the Market, including honeycombs, honey wine vinegar, honey candy, and honey sticks. Bill was first introduced to beekeeping as a child when he would watch the honeybees owned by a friend of his father. As an adult, he worked as an insurance agent but took up beekeeping as a fun hobby. He also frequently attended beekeeping conventions where he made friends and shared experiences with other honey business owners. Although he never made honey products full-time until he retired, Bill has consistently enjoyed the process throughout his life because his bees never fail to do something different each year that he’s never seen before.
Bill makes all of his honey products in his own backyard alongside an assistant with whom he’s been working for 35 years. Next to his beehive, he has a large shed where he keeps tools such as honey extractors, wax melters, and a bottling tank that he uses to turn raw honey into sellable products. Thanks to his setup, Bill has established a solid production process over time that consistently works well for him. He has kept returning to the Market for decades due to the overwhelmingly positive atmosphere that both the customers and vendors have created. To Bill, many regular patrons have become like extended family, and every new visitor is automatically treated like a friend rather than a stranger.
