Ingredients:
- 3 Granny Smith or other firm, tart apples, washed, peeled and cut into slices of medium thickness
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
- Arrange the apple slices in a 2-quart, covered casserole dish. Sprinkle the sugar, and then the cinnamon over the apples and gently mix the sugar and spices with the apples until evenly distributed. Cover the dish and microwave the apple mixture for 5 minutes. Remove the apples from the microwave and stir the apple mixture. Replace the cover on the dish and allow the apple mixture to cool while covered, 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
- Note: These apples can be served as a side dish to accompany a meat entree, or they can be served warm with ice cream as a dessert. Either variation is delicious!
