Greensboro, NC – The Curb Market will hold its annual Strawberry Pancake and Celebration Day on Saturday, May 4, beginning at 8:00 am at the Market.
Guest chefs Alex and Tim Amoroso of Cheesecakes by Alex will prepare their famous, light and fluffy pancakes and top them with locally sourced strawberries from Rudd Farm and Mighty Tendril Farm. Weather permitting, patrons can enjoy picnic seating on the lawn. Additional seating will be available inside the Market in Cooks Corner Kitchen.
Two pancakes topped with strawberries will be available for a minimum donation of $5 per plate. Patrons can add a Neese’s sausage patty for an additional $2. Gate City Coffee will sell hot and iced coffee, also on the lawn. All Curb Market fundraising events are first come, first served and while supplies last. Event proceeds provide vital funds for five food security programs at the Curb Market.
Patrons can also enjoy live music, children’s activities, and picnic seating on the Market lawn during the event. The Market is happy to welcome back a local favorite singer songwriter, Laura Jane Vincent, of Glendon, North Carolina, playing from 9 am – 12 pm.
Market farmers will have local strawberries for sale including Rudd Farm, Smith Farms, Farlow Farm, Byrley Gardens, Sugar Hill Produce, Gate City Harvest, Phillip’s Farm, Vern’s Farm, Smith Century Farm, and Between the Branches Bee Co. Jams and jellies featuring strawberries will be available and bakers across the Market will be creating strawberry specialty items to take home or to eat at the Market.
North Carolina is the fourth-largest producer of strawberries in the nation with over 2000 acres of berries which generate over $20 million in sales annually. One can eat and enjoy fresh berries from the Market with no guilt as strawberries rank high among fruits in vitamins C and A while containing only 60 calories per cup.
